Hi Internet!
Yesterday had a potluck at work and blah blah blah a lot of food, much eating ensued and so on and so forth. Anyhow as I was walking to my car I was carring my marshmallow salad in my roommates Princess House bowl, (read very expensive) and I was so careful that the bottom didn't drop out of the bag, so that the aforementioned expensive bowl wouldn't break. (My hands were full of other things too) So I am 2 steps from my car and I trip on something, fall, break the bowl, scatter my purse bag thingy all over and scrape up the right side of my bosy and sprain my little finger.
I WAS WALKING PEOPLE! I used to play a lot of rugby years ago and I would manage to walk away from a hard played game with less injury than I got yesterday from walking! So... I had to show everyone today at work my sore little finger which is a sausage right now. And I did take pleasure in telling them that I did it when I tripped walking. They look at me, "You were walking?" "Hell yeah" I reply. Yes I get satisfaction out of making fun of myself.
sooooo....
My university is gone. They were Okanagan University College, and I was from the first class that OUC granted degrees to (not that long ago people, 5 years ago), so now OUC is UBC and that means that there was only 5 years of OUC degrees granted. Now considering that people went there mostly to start uni and graduated somewhere more known, say UBC. That means there weren't many people graduating there, my class had like 10 people in it. 10!!!! So how recognizable will my degree be since it was only around for 5 years and maybe 100 or so students each year, you do the math. Anyhow now that UBC is OUC they are considering giveing OUC alumi a UBC degree.
This is great, I stayed in Kelowna so I could be near my grannie, but that means I had to sacrifice getting a more recogniable degree, and now I might be able to get one anyhow.
Karma people.
So I am sure that you are thinking that it doens't really matter where. I guess it doesn't. Especially now that I have a career and all that and all of the accolades that come with that. However I was in an interview a couple years ago and the interviewer actually asked me if my degree was legitimate. ARG! I nearly crawled across the table to slap that rug off of his forhead! And he also managed the Kelowna end of things! (I was in Calgary). Anyhow I became defensive and never heard from that company again, which is fine, I am getting paid more now doing something much better. So that would never happen again if I had a UBC on my resume. And besides my UBC degree would go well with Adam's UofT degree. And I never got a proper frame for my degree and now I won't be able to get one, but I am sure that I can get a UBC one!
But part of my thinks that I should be proud of having an OUC degree, and I am, it's cool to know that there weren't too many of them and I was one of the first, but when I tell people where I got it, they look confused.
have a nice day!
